Run time is approximately 2 hours with one intermission.
Scarecrow on Fire written by Kevin Kling, directed by Michael Robins with Kevin Kling, Dan Chouinard, and Stephen Yoakam, with music from the House of Mercy Band (Chris Larson, Angela Talle, Jeremy Szopinski, and Doug Trail-Johnson), and Michelle Kinney.
Kevin imagines a twist to the story of The Wizard of Oz, as only he can. Dorothy is back in Kansas with a cyclone in her head, she's in trouble and calls for help. Can the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Lion find their way from Oz to Kansas?
“Scarecrow on Fire is an absolute joy, and leaves anyone lucky enough to see it with a belief in the possibility of a world where days can be sweetly funny, gently ironic, and inventively joyful. If we can’t have whole days of such bliss, at least take advantage of the couple of hours offered as part of Illusion Theater’s 50th–and wish them many more.”

“It’s funny and silly and charming, but also really heart-warming and even a little profound. It may just bring tears to your eyes as it highlights the beauty and frailty of life.”

““Scarecrow” is entertaining enough and fun. It showcases Kling’s storytelling and literary powers. And it’s fun to see the likes of Yoakam doing what could be considered a campfire gathering.”

“There isn’t anything that doesn’t work in this production...the script is smart, funny, and knows its audience has this shared knowledge of The Wizard of Oz, which we do, it’s like it’s part of our genetic makeup.”
