May 19, 2024, marked the 50th Anniversary of ILLUSION THEATER’s founding. The 2024-25 Season celebrated 50 years of creating illuminating theater with a bold season of new plays and special performances. We honored the past as we celebrated the present to make way for the future. For five decades ILLUSION has been producing new works by living artists that speak about the most personal and pressing social issues of our times. Under the visionary leadership of Michael Robins and Bonnie Morris, now joined by Tree O’Halloran, ILLUSION has been at the forefront of creating and producing transformative theater. Michael Robins said, “We reached out to artists who have been part of our success over the years to bring new works, world premieres to this 50th anniversary season.” Click here to relive some of these 50 years.
“The theater is a safe place to feel dangerous things, discomforting things or controversial things. We can rehearse “new realities” on our stage. ”
“I think people have an unconscious meter for what seems authentic to them because there is so much inauthenticity in the world. At Illusion we believe in theater that is genuine, theater that is about living now.”
